Orvis lower their Street's store carbon footprint
Batchelor Electrical Contractors were recently contacted by an energy consultant working with specialist outdoor clothing and pursuit retailer Orvis.
The consultant Energy Now and Batchelor Electrical Contractors worked together to develop an energy saving report with tangible cost effective solutions for Orvis' Street Store in Somerset which included detailed analysis, graphs and ROI payback calculations.
The scope of works included converting various recessed modular fittings from T8 to T5 using the Save It Easy lamp conversion product supplied and installed by Batchelor Electrical Contractors. This gave much greater lamp life and reduced energy consumption per tube of approximately 22% which saves costly store maintenance. In addition, by converting the fitting the retailer did not need to purchase new fittings which saved cost and reduced waste.
Batchelor Electrical Contractors also replaced the window bed lighting at the Street store with more energy efficient fittings to assist with lowering the overall carbon footprint.
With the forthcoming Feed-in-Tariff and CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme commencing in April 2010 which will drastically change the way over 20,000 business across the UK source electricity. Many other retailers are expected to look at lowering their energy consumption across their store portfolio during the next 12 months before the expected cost of carbon credits are set to increase in 2011.
