As a leading electrical contractor, Batchelor Electrical Contractors recognise that our operations have and effect on the local, regional and global environments. However, as a consequence of this, the management are committed to continuous improvements in environmental performance and the prevention of pollution.
 The company considers its environmental impact throughout all stages of a project and the day-to-day running of the business. From initial concept design, through to on-site installation and finally disposal of old equipment.
Batchelor Electrical Contractors ensure, where possible, that green issues are kept at the forefront of all aspects of the business including:
- Recycling of all old lamps used both internally and externally on each contract via Mercury Recycling. Each tube is separated into component parts and mercurial powder distilled to produce 99.98% pure mercury. The mercury, glass and metal are all used in other industries. Mercury Technology are authorised by the Environment Agency with the first Integrated Pollution Control (IPC) licence of its type in the UK.
- Preference given to approved ‘green’ suppliers who value the environment too
- Chlorine free, recycled paper from sustainable sources on all direct marketing material
- Use of electronic communication to customers and suppliers to reduce paper
- Recycling of packaging materials and paper from all levels of personnel
- Minimising waste
- Efficient use of water and energy at our Head Office
- Use of biodegradable chemicals
- Minimising use of solvents and lead-based paints
- Phasing out of CFCs and ozone-depleting substances.
- Corporate vehicles kept to a minimum, where possible public transportation utilised
- Promotion and integration of solar energy to clients (PV array) and energy efficient lighting
- The education/training of employees in environmental issues and effects of their activities
